A visual arts and maker studio for youth, teens, and adults.

About Us

Artaluma is a vibrant art and creativity center for adults, teens, and youth, located in historic downtown Petaluma at 145 Keller Street. As a nonprofit organization, our mission is to inspire, unleash, and celebrate creativity in everyone. We offer in-person and online classes, workshops, and camps, all supported by a uniquely positive, open, and heart-centered community.

Artaluma was founded and is directed by Elizabeth McKoy, a seasoned arts educator, painter, creativity coach, and curriculum writer. For over 16 years, Elizabeth served as the founding artistic director of Berkeley Playhouse, an award-winning professional theater company, where she also developed a thriving musical theater school serving over 1,400 students each year. Artaluma continues her mission by creating a space where people of all ages can connect, create, and grow through the power of art.

Elizabeth Mckoy, Founder

“I have Elizabeth to thank for reconnecting me with my inner creativity! She is a fantastic teacher and facilitator who makes group work unintimidating and welcoming for all individuals, from diverse backgrounds and varying experience levels. I am eternally grateful and highly recommend taking a class with Elizabeth.”

Dana Swint
Adult student 2019-2021

“Elizabeth gets to the heart of things with so much joy and passion. She challenges me to get out of my comfort zone and dive into creative thinking. It’s good for me as an artist and also just as a human. I live so much more fully and vibrantly when I’m engaged creatively. I can’t wait to try more groups and workshops.”
