Five Women Artists Who Changed the Art World

- Georgia O'Keeffe
- Frida Kahlo
- Faith Ringgold
- Lee Krasner
- Ruth Asawa
In this exciting hands-on course, we’ll delve into the lives and studios of Georgia O’Keeffe, Frida Kahlo, Faith Ringgold, Lee Krasner, and Ruth Asawa—five extraordinary women who transformed the history of art through courage, innovation, and unmistakable personal vision.
We’ll play and explore, hands-on, how each artist used techniques and signature styles such as color, composition, scale, pattern, storytelling, and symbolism to create work that will inspire your own creations.
This is not an art-skill class—it’s a hands-on art history workshop series.
You’ll quickly discover why these artists continue to inspire artists around the world.
Over the series you’ll experiment with:
- Georgia O'Keeffe’s bold simplification and a dramatic sense of scale.
- Frida Kahlo’s rich symbolism and deeply personal storytelling.
- Faith Ringgold’s vibrant color, narrative, and joyful pattern.
- Lee Krasner’s energetic abstraction and fearless mark-making.
- Ruth Asawa’s looped-wire sculpture, organic form, drawing, and art rooted in everyday life.
This series isn’t about copying these artists’ work—it’s about discovering the creative principles behind them and using those ideas to inspire and strengthen your own artistic voice.
Expect inspiring stories, fascinating art history, lively discussion, bite-size exercises, and short projects every class session.
Perfect for everyone who is creatively curious and ready to discover new ways of seeing, making, and expressing themselves.
